Isn't that cheating?

Creating a 3D-printed porcelain vase is a journey that requires patience, skill, and respect for the material. Here's how the artisans behind the 3D-printed pieces in our collection transform raw clay into the geometric forms you see:

Designing the Form

It begins on a screen, not a wheel. Designers model each vase in 3D software, exploring curves, lattices, and angles impossible to pull by hand. A shape can be tested digitally before a single gram of clay is used.

Slicing & Preparing the Clay

The model is "sliced" into thousands of ultra-thin layers. Meanwhile, a custom porcelain slip is prepared — finely milled, de-aired, and tuned to the right consistency so it holds its shape as it prints.

Printing, Layer by Layer

The dry piece is fired once to harden it, glazed by hand with food-safe, lead-free mineral glazes, then fired again at high temperature until the surface turns glassy and water-tight.
